Two Britons believed dead in Majorca flood

Heavy rain and flash floods hit Sant Llorenc de Cardassar on the island of Mallorca Spain

Two of the victims were British, a senior official from the San Llorenc mayor's office, Antonia Bauza, told radio station Cadena Ser.

The rain was so heavy a river burst its banks.

The British Consulate has not yet confirmed the nationalities of the victims but said they were "urgently seeking" updates from the Spanish authorities.

Between five and 20 people are still thought to be missing after the downpours, local media reported.

At least six people are believed to have died when torrential rainstorms deluged the town of Sant Llorenc, about 40 miles east of the capital, Palma, on Tuesday evening.

Footage broadcast of the floods showed cars being swept away by the rampaging flood waters and many people remain trapped in their homes following the heavy rain which hit the region.

Twitter reacts Manchester City held to goalless draw by Liverpool
I also have my concerns about Sarri's side defensively, namely with David Luiz playing in a four-man defence. Sterling, 23, has been booed during each game at Liverpool since his acrimonious move to City in 2015.

"It all happened in less than 10 minutes", an unidentified witness with wet clothes and a blanket over his shoulders told TVE.

According to Spanish meteorological agency Aemet, more than 8in (20cm) of rainfall in just a few hours hit the island on Tuesday.

At least three towns closed schools and hundreds of people were sheltered in sports facilities and a local hippodrome, authorities said.

The Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez tweeted: "My solidarity and support goes out to the families and friends of victims and all those affected by these tragic floods".

Rescue workers and military units from the Spanish mainland were heading to the area which is popular with British holidaymakers.

A spokesperson for his office says he will visit the areas affected by flooding later on Wednesday.
