Trump calls Brett Kavanaugh allegations a 'hoax'

Democrat Senator Joe Manchin speaks about his recent vote in the Senate to confirm Brett Kavanaugh Sunday Oct. 7 2018 at IHOP Charleston

Republicans are upbeat about their chances of holding on to their (razor thin) Senate majority in the USA midterm elections after the Brett Kavanaugh firestorm and are pointing to internal polling that proves the acrimonius battle for the Supreme Court pick has only boosted the party's chances in the short term and made the elections something more than just about Donald Trump - which is a big deal.

She was also critical of those who said they believed Ford's testimony about the attack, but thought she misidentified Kavanaugh as her attacker. "And now they want to impeach him".

"Unfortunately, it's going to take a lot more than female clerks to undo the damage to the legitimacy of the court done by this travesty of a confirmation process". "I think the sense of urgency among Democrats, and the sense of possibility among potential candidates is such that you're going to see that".

After the vote for Kavanaugh by Sen.

Still, Sen. Chris Coons, a Democrat, said he believed it would be premature for his party to talk about reinvestigating Kavanaugh or a possible impeachment if the party takes control of the chamber in November, stressing a need to help heal the country. "But what you just said now was it's a question of whether or not the party in control of the Senate is different from the president".

The U.S. Senate voted to confirm Kavanaugh Saturday after weeks of hearings looking into his background. Eighty-five percent of all voters in these districts say the Supreme Court is either important or extremely important in deciding their vote for Congress this year.

Ultimately, as a society, we can not keep litigating different issues over and over hoping for different outcomes. "I mean - they've come to our homes, they've, you know, basically brushed up against members".

"The American public has seen this charade, has seen this dishonesty by the Democrats".

Senate moves to final vote on controversial Trump's Supreme Court pick Kavanaugh
About 100 anti-Kavanaugh protesters climbed the Capitol's East Steps as the vote approached, pumping fists and waving signs. In a twist, Murkowski said she will state her opposition but vote "present" as a courtesy to Kavanaugh supporter Sen.

Kasich, a Republican who ran for president in 2016, also predicted a strong turnout for Democrats in the upcoming election, but added that their success would depend on how much they focus on controversial issues, such as abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. "This country would end up being Venezuela".

As he left the White House for an event in Florida on Monday, Mr Trump said: "So I've been hearing that now they're thinking about impeaching a brilliant jurist".

This was a sentiment echoed by Democrats, who had hoped the bureau would interview more people as part of the investigation.

Carrey showed his support last week for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who had accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her in the early '80s, by sharing a painting of her on Twitter and urging his followers to "avenge her in November" at the ballot box.

Trump had originally called Ford's testimony credible but later changed his tune and mocked her for forgetting certain details.

It's unclear whether Kavanaugh will speak during the East Room ceremony.

Trump has now put his stamp on the court with his second justice in as many years. It was all made up, it was fabricated, and it's a disgrace'.

With Kavanaugh's ascension to the high court, Republicans, long dispirited by Trump's string of scandals and the prospect of losing their congressional majorities, are whooping it up. There is evidence that independent voters, especially women, in the suburbs have struggled with supporting Trump as president.
