Us Calls International Criminal Court 'dangerous'

Those moves earlier this year provoked Palestinian withdrawal from talks over a still-to-be-released US plan for peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

Neither the United States nor Israel recognizes the ICC, and existing US legislation calls for closure of the PLO office following any Palestinian move to use it against Israel.

"To the contrary, PLO leadership has condemned a USA peace plan they have not yet seen and refused to engage with the U.S. government with respect to peace efforts and otherwise", she said. We will certainly not join the ICC.

Trump has pledged to reach the "deal of the century" on Israeli-Palestinian peace but has declined to commit to a two-state solution, for years the focus of worldwide diplomacy. The United Nations General Assembly, however, voted in 2012 to recognize Palestine as what it calls a "member observer state". Officials in Ramallah said the decision came after they stepped up their campaign against Israel at the International Criminal Court, where they have sought a war crimes investigation into Israeli policies. The White House has not said when the office will officially shutter.

"We reiterate that the rights of the Palestinian people are not for sale, that we will not succumb to United States threats and bullying", Erekat said in a statement.

National Security Advisor John Bolton delivered his expected condemnation of the International Criminal Court on Monday, vowing to bring sanctions against the organization if it continues to investigate American activity in the Middle East.

The PLO was once considered a terrorist organisation by the USA and Israel until 1991.

The administration is trying to draw a connection between the two and pressure Palestinians to talk directly with Israel.

Under long-standing USA law, permission for the PLO to maintain its mission in Washington must be renewed every six months. However, the law allows the United States president to decide either way. President Barack Obama took some steps to co-operate with the organisation.

The Trump Administration is blowing the whistle on the Palestine Liberation Organization, and it would be hard to identify a more overdue reality check in USA foreign policy. United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley said the Palestinians' major demand - for millions of their refugees and descendants to return to lost homes in Israel - should be ruled out, and called for increased pressure on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Violent crime with multiple victims is rare in Australia but this was the second major incident in Western Australia this year. As many as five people died in a home in Australia and a man in his 20s was taken into custody on Sunday morning, police said.

America's long-running reluctant relationship with the International Criminal Court came to a crashing halt on Monday as decades of US suspicions about the tribunal and its global jurisdiction spilled into open hostility, amid threats of sanctions if it investigates USA troops in Afghanistan. In a move rebuked by much of the global community, the administration recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and relocated the us embassy; Trump also has slashed millions of dollars in funding to an agency that provides essential aid to Palestinian refugees and a network of Jerusalem hospitals that treat Palestinians. -Palestinian relations in the Trump era.

The Washington D.C. office of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Nov. 18, 2017.

"The PLO did not create the Palestinian movement - it embodies the national movement".

"Practically speaking however, not much will change".

PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi called the USA policy "blackmail" that "once again seeks to punish the Palestinian people as a whole who are already victims of the ruthless Israeli military occupation". This justification (and move) is either unwise a/or disingenuous.

Trump's decision to close the offices is just one of several punitive measures taken against the Palestinians in recent weeks.

"They have made clear their intentions to avoid any process led by the Trump administration...there's no reason the Trump administration should keep their office open in Washington", he told The National.

Bolton said the announcement about ending all involvement with and support for the ICC put the USA stance in the "public record".

In the previous year, ICC has shown signs of being willing to bring cases against the United States for possible war crimes.
