Dozens of immigrant children in the United States will be reunited with parents

The Trump administration said it identified about 100 children under age 5 who were likely separated from their parents at the border, but as of Tuesday said some could not yet be reunited, in part due to an intensive screening process typically used for minors who come to the US alone before they are released to sponsors.

One immigration advocate told Reuters she was still awaiting details on when two under-five children would be back with their parents.

It wasn't immediately clear how many children remain in detention facilities.

There are 46 children ineligible for reunification. One parent was suspected of child abuse; another was living in a household with another adult who had an outstanding warrant for criminal sexual abuse of a minor. According to the HHS statement, 12 of those cases were because the parent was deported. Come like other people do.

One adult had a fake birth certificate. That effectively limited detention to 20 days - a timeline set under a 1997 court settlement known as Flores - for migrant adults apprehended with children.

One adult is being treated for a communicable disease.

Officials said they are searching for sponsors for children whose parents are ineligible to take custody of them, including another parent, relatives or a legal guardian in the United States.

Earlier this week officials said at least one of the children in their custody might be a USA citizen.

Two adults are in custody of state jails for "other offenses".

He has been handed the number 11 shirt for the 2018/19 campaign and will join up with the squad in early August. The 19-year-old has joined the Gunners just a day after Uruguay global Lucas Torreira signed for £25m.

Beyond that, 27 children are now not eligible for reunification. "Of course, there remains a tremendous amount of hard work and similar obstacles facing our teams in reuniting the remaining families. The Trump administration does not approach this mission lightly, and we intend to continue our good faith efforts to reunify families".

As the government scrambled to meet the July 10 deadline, HHS faced criticism that the screening efforts were slowing down the reunification process.

Trump's comments came after a federal judge in California rejected a DoJ request to allow the long-term detention of migrant children. Carrying banners, and in many cases surrounded by their own children, members of Unidad Latina en Accion, Connecticut Students for a Dream and other groups decried family separations at the border. "We provide [detained pregnant women] with prenatal care, we provide them separate housing, we provide them specialists, we will take them to appointments if they need to go somewhere else, we provide them counseling", said Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in May. "Accordingly, by the end of the day we will decide what remedies to recommend to the court for the non-compliance".

Government officials argued they needed more time to carry out the task and provided an update on Thursday. She said the government said one would be reunited sometime Wednesday.

"If in fact 57 children have been reunited because of the lawsuit, we could not be more happy for those families", said Lee Gelernt, deputy director of the ACLU's Immigrants' Rights Project.

This week, families who have been reunified have been released from federal custody, given ankle monitors and ordered to appear back in court for their immigration proceedings. If he finds the government missed his deadlines, he could hold government officials in contempt of court and has a wide variety of punishments available to him. There is also one child in custody that the Department of Justice said could be a USA citizen. He stated, "These are firm deadlines".

Of the almost 3,000 migrant minors who were separated from their parents and placed in federal custody, the Trump administration says at least 102 are under 5 years old.

The federal government has until 26 July to return the remaining children.

Monday's hearing set the stage for a dramatic day of reunifications on Tuesday across the country, though they are likely to occur largely outside public view.
