YouTube shooter purchased gun at San Diego dealer

Aghdam, 38, bought the 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun at the undisclosed San Diego dealer on January 16, more than two months before she stormed into the San Bruno company's outdoor cafeteria area and shot random employees as a result of her dispute over YouTube's new video policies, according to San Bruno Police Commander Geoff Caldwell. She wounded three people before killing herself.

In addition, she was seen in a #Shooting range before the attack and there was a gun that was registered in her name that was found on the scene. They did not know she had a gun. During the shooting, she swapped out a magazine and shot from the second magazine when she killed herself.

San Bruno Police Department said the she didn't know or target the victims and a motive is still unclear.

"I didn't know she has a gun, I thought that maybe she was going to start a fight or something", he said. Already seething over YouTube's crackdown on videos she routinely posted, Aghdam took the gun home with her on January 16, the same day the internet giant announced a bigger revenue crackdown on content creators like her.

A 2012 bankruptcy record indicates Aghdam's father Ismail claimed he had two handguns and one rifle.

San Bruno police say she practiced shooting at a local gun range on Tuesday before driving to YouTube headquarters.

Kimia Shobeiri, 18, suggested the shooting, like Aghdam's prolific posts, was a ploy to get attention. She exercised, promoted animal rights and explained the vegan diet, often in freakish productions with elaborate costumes or carrying a rabbit.

"Youtube filtered my channels to keep them from getting views!" one of the messages said.

YouTube had no comment about any actions related to Aghdam's videos.

According to Gizmodo, Aghdam's personal website - also since removed - included links to videos critical of YT dating back to mid-2016, as well as "footage of animal cruelty, a text-to-speech video describing the risks of anal sex" and a clip from an InfoWars editor decrying popular culture as "more vulgar, vapid, self-absorbed, hedonistic and dehumanizing than at any other time in living memory". She had been reported missing.

Additionally, her father, Ismail Aghdam, called Mountain View police and warned them that the shooter may be headed for YouTube.

Aghdam also ran a Farsi-language public channel on the messaging app Telegram, which had 6,000 followers, featuring content unlikely to resonate with Iranians.

One video was a tutorial about how to massage buttocks, and another featured a song praising Bahaism, a religion that originated in Iran but is heavily suppressed by the Islamic Republic. State TV briefly reported the shooting based on global reports. He says: "I wish I was there to use YouTube freely".
